I bring in a text file to Excel and we have Sectors
(example: North, South, Central, West, Hermitage) and I
have columns of citations and stops on each Sector and
then I generate a report of numbers for Sectors. My
question, is there an easy way of generating the numbers
into the formatted Excel worksheet each week without
copying and pasting everytime? I thought of creating a
Macro that will copy and paste, is this the only way? I
do not do VB. Thanks so much in advance!

Pam,

If the text file format does not change i.e. the headings
are always the same regardless of the number of rows and
the text filename is located in the same windows folder
each time it is updated, then the best way forward is to
simply record a macro which opens the file and brings the
data into your Excel sheet... Tools/Macros/Record New
Macro ... this simply records your keystrokes...you can
format the data to your requirements, don't worry about
making mistakes... be sure to stop recording the macro
when the data is in and in the format you want ...
Tools/Macros/Stop recording. Once the data is in the
Excel worksheet, you might consider using a Pivot table
for presentation purposes.
