text ,but no imaging on-line

I'm desperate. I'm not exactly computer savvy, and no one
seems to be able to help me out with this. Roadrunner
tech support said this is a common problem with microsoft
software, and even gave me a trouble shooting # (283807),
but for some reason when I type it in to
support.microsoft.com, I get nothing. When I go on-line I
can get text, but no images--instead I get blank squares
with red "X"s. I've tried multiple websites, re-started
computer, unplugged cable modem, etc. And I've checked my
settings through the "tool" icon on internet explorer, and
they're all set correctly--I think--so it definately looks
like a problem with the windows software itself. I don't
know what else to do, and since they say this is a common
problem, I thought someone out there may have some
advice??? Thanks, Tom K.
