Hi,

My text boxes disappear completely in preview and when publishing. They are
only available in Design. I found a previous question that referred to
comments, but I don't think this is the issue. I have looked high and low to
no avail--please help.

The web site is http://www.txhorsemonthly.com/fce/index.htm

Are you using Word or Publisher & FP for your web? Don't - use just FP.
And don't use Autoshapes, WordArt, or anything on the Draw tool bar to
create your layout.

I am just using FP 2003. I can tell you that the "text boxes" are from the
drawing toolbar. I edit them as a "cell" and can type in them all day long.
Most of the time they don't show up in preview. One did, just now, the text
itself showed up, but not the actual box.

The drawing tools work best in IE, other browsers displaying them might or
might not work (unpredictable results).

However for the sake of compatibility across browsers it is best not to use
the text box drawing tools at all.

Thanks for that link, gonna keep it for future responses...save some typing
time ! :-)

| The single text box on that page does display in IE7. However there is no
| banner or navigation - is the page in the navigation view?
| As Rob and Andrew have mentioned, using text-boxes are a very bad design
| idea.
| www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/VML-graphics.htm gives some reasons why.

If I don't use the text boxes, how do I introduce text to the page? My
problem yesterday was that my "banner", which was really just a piece of
clipart I stuck at the top, seemed to not be able to co-exist with my text
boxes. So I re-did the banner and the existing text boxes were fine.

Today I have a background picture that I put a textbox on and the second I
click anywhere on the background pic, the text box disappears. (this is in
design view). I thought the text box was "behind" the picture, but it just
randomly seems to appear and disappear. Sigh.

You just starting at the point of your cursor. However the easiest method is to use tables to layout
your pages and not anything from the drawing toolbar.
