Has anyone come across a problem where a presentation
composed on one PC (or laptop) changes when it's viewed on
another? Most of my text boxes appear to have changed in
size although the font types and sizes are the same. The
result is that the presentation is all over the place.
Both machines are using Powerpoint 2000 and the page setup
is the same for both (On-screen show, 24cm x 18cm). Does
the hardware display settings affect things?

Chances are that the fonts have changed. Not all machines have identical
fonts selections. Just to make it more troublesome, not all fonts with the
same name are the same. Check to make sure that any font you have used is
available on both machines, and if missing replace the font.

My printer software installed a large number of fonts from its set-up CD, if
the presentation is only to be on the two computers, you may want to install
your printer on both. Or, if it will be viewed on other computers, you may
want to stick with common fonts.

Lastly, there is the option to embed fonts in the presentation. I have had
mixed results with this option. It may not be a bad idea for you to select
this option from the save menu, then trial the presentation transfer.
