I have a document containing a 3-level outline and
multiple text boxes in 2 columns. I entered a page break
on one of my level 2 lines, so it would go to the next
page and leave room for the text box I needed to place at
the bottom of the page. My problem is, whenever I place my
text box beneath the second column on page 1, the number
(not the text, just the number) jumps up from page 2 back
onto page 1.

Please help!

In normal view, check the formattting of the page break. If you're inserting the page break immediately before a heading style, the page break will assume the heading format. Select the page break and apply a body text style (like normal).
HTH!

You cannot format a page break to a different style from the following
paragraph; this will change the paragraph style. But you can delete the page
break and apply the "Page break before" property to the paragraph.
