William.

Hi can anyone help me..I currently have a poetry site and use text boxes so
the members can review each other. Is there any way I can stop private ads
going onto the members webpage? this is unsightly and can be kinda rude at
times also it fills the pages with ads, any help would be appreciated.
William.

If using the FrontPage extensions to process the reviews - there is
nothing you can do unless you make the form members only requiring the
members to log on to use the form. Otherwise use a Captcha or other
Human Interface Proof (HIP) to defeat the spammers.

Some examples of HIPs are at
http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/anti-spam/

Some methods of making the form page "members only" are described at
http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/protect-page/

If you use FrontPage extensions and your host supports subwebs with
unique permissions (some hosts do not support this) an easy method is to
place the form in a subweb with unique permissions.

hi thanks for your help I followed ALL your instructions as per posting to
make a password protected page, when I tried to access the logon page this is
what I got, can you help please.

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0140 (0x80004005)
The @ command must be the first command within the Active Server Page.
/logon/passwordprotect.asp, line 2

Browser Type:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; SLCC1; .NET
CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.0.04506)

Page:
GET /logon/passwordprotect.asp

Time:
22 September 2008, 22:33:11

Which specific instructions are you following? As far as I can see none
of *my* instructions mention any @ directives - and none of my .asp
pages use them.

If you are following
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825498 then
either delete the line - vbscript is the default for .asp pages anyway,
or place it before the !doctype, though doing this will make the page
render in Quirks mode in Expression Web and FrontPage.
