text box in the flow chart to fit the text

I am creating a flow chart and I have a problem to fit the size of the text
box to the text. Either the box is too large for a single word or two or too
small for more detailed text. I did not succed with Microsoft help.
I do not want to manipulate the size of the fonts but the size of the box.

Do you mean an organizational chart? There is no a flow chart program in
PPT, just some AutoShapes in the drawing toolbar.
What version of PPT are you using, I ask because the organizational chart
program has changed many times between versions.
If it is PPT 2003, on the organizational toolbar click Layout button, choose
AutoLayout at the bottom to disable that, now you can resize every box if
you want. Be aware that once you turn this of, things do tend to get messy.

My suggestion would be to draw the chart yourself using rectangles or any
other shape that suits you and use connectors lines to tie the thing
together, that will give you more flexibility.
