Text as "credits" effects

i don't know how to do this (if it's possible).

i've added text and then chose"Add Effect", then i chose "Credits".... the
question i have is how do i stop the text mid-page? as of now, it moves from
the bottom of the presentation, towards the top, and then disappears.

i'd also like to know how i can slow it "really" down so you can easily read
it.

Instead of using credits, change it to "Crawl In" or "Fly In".
Then, set the direction to "From Bottom".
Double click on the effect now, then click on the Timing tab.
Click on the speed input field, set the speed to about 20 seconds, or to
your preference. Is that what you want?
