When running win98 tweak ui installed works fine. untill you run updates.
Then I can no longer get reid of those pesky little arrows on my desktop
icons. that and network logon is the only reason for me to use tweak ui to
start with. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling etc.

Now to the part that is on topic, Is there another freeware program that I
can use, Or something I can do to this one to make it work?

Thanks

Xteq X-Setup will do that and so much more.

Take a look at:
http://www.computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/150546.html

....where you will find...

"TweakUI won't remove the arrows after the Critical Update has been
installed.
I have removed them on several machines by editing the registry.

Open Regedit. Go to Start>Find type in lnkfile> OK. Keep hitting F3 (Find
Next) until you find the Key Is Shortcut. Delete the Key.

Do the same as above, substituting piffile for lnkfile & delete the same Is
Shortcut Key.

Reboot."

I had the same problem and solved it permanently by using Resource
Hacker to change the overlay icon in Shell32.dll. (Use a copy, then copy
over in DOS)

I tried various way to remove the arrows after a windows update. Finally,
this did work:
"Navigate to this key in the registry:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{63B51F81-C868-11D0-999C-00C04FD655E1}\InProcServer
32] Click on InProcServer32 and look in the right pane. Click on the
default
String Value and choose modify.
When the box appears, erase what is in there and leave it empty. Click OK. "
Restart
