www.eicar.org for the test file.

hm yh it works, but when i download the zip file, my avast says a virus
has been detected. it gives me the option to 'abort connection' -
which cancels the download of the dangerous file but when i abort
connection it still allows me to download and run the file although
there is nothing in the zip folder. but when i download another file,
other than a zip file it works fine. do you know why it does that with
the zip file?

I'm not very familiar with AVAST antivirus so I cannot answer this
question. It's probably more to do with the way IE handles file
downloads though.
