When I did reinstall Office 2002 I could not connect to
my .pst file because the file is modified from 2002 to
2003. All my recent backups are 2003 so I feel a bit lost.
Do anyone have a solution to reshape an outlook.pst in
2003 format to become 2002?

John,

The .pst is probably a Unicode .pst which is only readable by Outlook 2003.
So, you would need to do the following:

1. Backup your .pst file.
2. Start Outlook 2003
3. Create a new .pst in Outlook 2003 and when prompted select "Outlook
97-2002 Personal Folders File".
4. <Import> your original .pst file (the one you cannot get open in Outlook
2002) into the .pst file created in step 3.
5. Exit Outlook 2003
6. Open the .pst created in steps 3-4 in Outlook 2002.

Unfortunately, there is no "converter" to convert a Unicode .pst file into
the earlier version format (ANSI).

Hope this helps.

Greg,
I am sorry but it did not help. I used a trial version of
Office 2003 to evaluate for one of my clients currently
of Office XP. It is a small charity so my evaluation was
a No, the upgrade was not worth it. I did the evaluation
on my own computer, and to reinstall Office XP I first
deleted the Office 2003. It seems to me to be so that I
cannot download another copy of 2003 today - so I am
stuck.
One solution might be to find the file I downloaded but
it does not seem to be there. Any more proposals? I am a
bit annoyed because I have lost all my outlook data -
inbox, sent items and address book.

John,

Without a copy of Outlook 2003 you won't be able to get open the .pst file.
It looks like you can still order a trial version on the following page:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/trial.mspx

So, if you cannot locate a local copy of Outlook 2003 you might consider
ordering the trial version.

Thanks
