I recently bought a refurbished Sapphire 9800PRO. I only have a couple of
days left in the warranty/trial period so I'm trying to run some tests to
decide if it's in good shape. Not planning to overclock, just want to use
it for browsing and occasional gaming.

I ran rthdribl at 1024x702 with the default settings. It did pretty well
for about 45 minutes, then I started to notice some small white dots that
flickered very briefly. Is this normal for this card with this load?

I then ran it through the free 3DMark05 tests. The frame rates were bad of
course, but it finished without any crashes or artifacts.

Any suggestions or other tests I can try? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

when you take the old one into IKEA and they sell
you a entire house full of pastel furniture instead ;)

probably a new fan stuck on it or something

I'd overclock just for testing purposes - see if you get display
corruption with an even slight overclock, which might indicate it's
been toasted.
3dmark of one flavor or another is as good as anything else, I'd
imagine.

HTH,

ReFURBISHED , not refurnished!!!!!!! ;p

Use the artifact scanner in ATiTool. It is pretty good at picking out
artifacts, even the single-pixel ones which may otherwise go undetected.

Check the 2D, too. Run it through all the resolutions and
particularly colour depths your system is capable of. I've had cards
with faults that only showed at certain colour depths.
