Hello;

I've been tasked with building our 2000 AD lab on an isolated network
from our production 2000 AD (this is good). This is how I approached
simulating production and would like to here any feedback on better ways,
different ways and or disagreements.

(In this order)

1. File copy netlogon from production

2. Created scripts that export and rebuild in lab AD

a. OU (Name and location)

b. Groups (Name, SAM, and OU Location)

c. Users (Name, SAM, Profile info, and OU Location)

d. Computers (Name, SAM, and OU Location)

e. Group Members

3. Then use GPMC to Backup all GPOs and import them to the LAB

4. Then run schemadoc on production and lab to find any diffs in the schemas

Thanks,

Tim

You will use the same kind of hardware in the lab - if so , maybe You
just clone the disk form the DC and put it on the lab network.

Unfortunately it is not the same hardware and not same amount of
servers (i.e. much reduced number of sites, GC and fsmo role servers).
And most of the LAB (AD, Exchange, other) was already created, so
there are many already established SIDs in the LAB enviro :-(.

On another note I added IPSec export and import to my list.

Thanks for the input it is much appreciated.
