Test a program on a virtual drive?

I am having difficulty using Roxio Easy CD/DVD creator 8 and wondered
if I could simulate it being the only program on my computer (for
testing purpose) by installing it on a virtual drive? If this is
possible, would I also have to load Win XP on that same drive? Am I
barking up the wrong tree? Is this a practical way to accomplish what I
am trying to do short of reformatting my C: drive and loading only it
and Win XP?

Sounds like you are trying to kill ants with a sledge hammer. If you define
what "having difficulty using Roxio.." means, maybe someone who uses Roxio
can help you fix it. What error are you receiving? Are there any events in
the event viewer that correspond with you difficulty? Have you recently
upgraded to a newer version? etc... Also, I see you have XP but this is a
Win2k newsgroup. You might try posting your errors on one of the Roxio
forums here:
http://forums.support.roxio.com/
Hope this helps.

You don't want to hear the story of my frustration with Roxio.
Nevertheless, in answer to your question, Roxio has no technial support
other than an automated "Ask Roxanne" and others who have posted the
same question as mine to the discussion group have also received no
answer. But... this forum is not about Roxio. Disregard the problem and
let's look at the answer to the question. Win2k, WinXP whatever... is
is possible (is it practical as a last resort) to test a single program
with no interferance from other programs on a virtual drive? If not,
how would one accomplish this task?

might be just as easy to set up a second installation of Win2K (or XP)
as a dual boot. You could keep it fairly minimal so there wouldn't be
much extraneous stuff and it would be about as "clean" as you can get.
