terrible terrible terrible what do i do?

my desktop is all messed up, whenever i click on any folders on my desktop or in any window it just brings up the serach screen, and all my icons look like internet links now, everyhitng is only one click instead of two, and it underlines the text when i hold my mouse over it. i have no idea how to fix this, please someone help me. thanks in advance.

In Windows Explorer, do "Tools" > "Folder Options" > "General". Change the
bottom item "Click items as follows" to be "Double click...."
