Hello,
No hair left.
RAID controller (older) DAC960, two channel, using the DAC cabling (not
LVD). Has worked well until this incident.
Replacing two 9GB Quantum IVs with two 18GB Quantum V's (ATLAS).
They are Ultra160/LVD/SE type drives, Term Power jumper is provided.

Connect to DAC, can create Packs and System drives, can format (have
ultimately)... the DAC configurator sees, access Hard drives, provides
correct size, etc... have placed the 'original' two 9GBs onto
ONE channel for RAID1 array -
The two new 18GB ATLAS are on second channel in RAID0 package.

Using NOVELL SBS6.0 - and HAVE HAD this installed on the TWO 9GBs
prior, just wanted more storage...

'New' install occurs, load HAMs (drvs) and so forth, but NOS cannot
locate free space... and I have low level formatted these drives after
the first time this happened. It appears that the drives are full (not!).
I even placed the drives (using a different cable)onto an Adaptec SCSI
card, not RAID, sees them, formats them, etc.. etc... and tried
an install just to see if the NOS would SEE the free space. NOPE.

I am asking about TERMINATION... the two DAC cables have a built in
TERMINATOR on the distant end. Three 68 pin connectors in between
that TERMINATOR and the Controller... DO I NEED TO JUMPER ANY
of the HDs for TERM POWER???

BTW, I have (in efforts to troubleshoot) even placed an LVD terminator
onto the third connector and just used the first two for the 18GBs
ATLAS V's - no difference. DAC sees the drives (even a "list devices"
in Novell SHOWS the hard drives) but there is 'no free space' for
the VOLUME...

Sorry for the length. Thanks for helping.

Have you remebered to to define "logical drives" ??

A SCSI Bus ned at least on device to provide TermPower (Normaly the
controller does this, im sure you DAC does this)
