Hi all.......I have a server with 2000 installed. The
terminal services server is not activated. I have users
connecting that use XP Pro or XP Home. My understanding
is that XP and 2000 have built in licenses...so, my
employer has not purchased any licenses.

We've only made the TS live for the last 60 days. Now,
users are getting errors that a license was not avail.

What can I do besides buy licenses? I'm supporting
approximately 10 remote users. My TS server is not
active...since I thought it didn't have to be since i'm
using built in licensing on the XP machines.

Help please............Thanks.

No Microsoft OS has built in licenses, it is merely that
the TS license service automatically issues certain OSes
free licenses. However, to take advantage of this, then
you need to have an installed and activated terminal
services licensing server installed somewhere on your
network.

Oh...and only XP Pro and 2000 Pro will get a free
license. XP Home requires you to buy a TSCAL.
