i need help!

we have an ipaq, a win2000 server and the ppc2003
(pocketwindows). we have 10 open license terminal clients
2000 installed.

we put up the connection with bluetooth handy and gprs.
we connect us to a server and the problem is:

- at the first time, the connection to the term-server is
ok.
- the second time we can't connect anymore!!!
- the license problem has been solved (we have done it
per telephone)
- first we have the problem "server can't give term
clients" in the event log (id "1004").

my questions:

- did anybody tried it with pocket windows 2003 (and the
terminal?
- we have no errormessage on the terminal server?
- can we trace the connection to the server to fix the
problem?

any advice helps.

we spoke to microsoft and hp. both said, that is not his
problem. hp has bad hardware, hp means, microsoft pocket
sw is failure and we should try the knowledge base
(nothing) and wait for an batch.

i think, the term server and the licensing from microsoft
is ............. (no comment).

so my advice: citrix server and no hp pda's!

My problem is EXACTLY same.

But if I switch my Win2000 server to Remote administration mode, then PPC2003 working fine
If I switch back to Application server mode, then I get "Event 1004" on server log, PPC2003 terminal not working

Any idea?

Since the context is gone, I have no real information about what
the problem is. But since you mention Event 1004, which is "cannot
issue client license", I can guess it.

When you put the TS in Application mode, you need a TS CAL for
every client. That means that you must install and activate a TS
Licensing Server (on your DC, if your TS is part of an AD domain).
You must also buy and install TS CALs for your clients. Only
exception: W2K Pro and XP Pro clients get a free TS CAL from the
Licensing Server, as soon as you have activated the LS.

In Remote Administration mode, there are no licensing
requirements. That's why the problem disappears in RA mode (but RA
mode gives you a maximum of 2 concurrent connections).

I have activated TS Licens server, and TS CALs, for 5 user. My server working fine, since 2 yerars with Win98..

If I haven't free TS CAL, then TS Licens server does not give 90 days temporary licenses for my Pocket Windows 2003 PDA?

And same server why give licens to my PDA with Pocket Windows 2002?

anonymous,

could you please include the previous content of the thread in
your post? Difficult to understand the problem when all the basic
facts are gone.

I agree that the 2003 PDA should receive a temporary TS CAL. Are
you sure that you haven't connected with this PDA before, and that
it has used its temporary license?

About the 2002 PDA: it seems perfectly normal to me that this PDA
has received a license. What is the problem there?
