Does anyone have experience with Tera News? (Sorry...slightly OT...it is a
"free" news service, but does charge an initial fee of $3.95).

Thanks for the advice.

I've had an account for about 6 months and have had one real problem
once when the server went down for a couple of days.
It is absolutely worth the money; sure, there are ups and downs and
variable speeds and you want to time your 50MB downloads for a time
when all of America is not doing it, but this is as close to free as
a binary feed gets so go for it.

Absolutely concur. With a dial-up 50 MB a day is about all I can
handle. I watched my bank acount for months, there has never been
another withdrawal from them, and the service was pretty good...there
have been times it was not available but not too many.

I say go for it. :)

I have used it some, as a backup when my ISP went down, it works OK.
I got in a couple years ago before they charged anything at all and
you used to be able to get 100M a day.. now I belive its only 50M a
day. Not a lot if you do binaries!
Works fine for me though. Never been charged anything.

Been using it for 2 years. It has gone down a few times but is pretty
reliable. You also can sign up for a free account at Bubbanews, which is
from the same people. That gives you 100M a day.

Bubbanews will require a credit card number for age verification purposes.
There is no fee.

I find it to be solid and reliable. I consider it to be truly FREE. The
$3.95 hardly covers the registration process.
