When I turn on the computer it boots into the windows xp login dialog. If I
put in the password fairly promptly it logs me on with no problem. If I leave
the machine for say 20-30mins without logging on and then try to log on I get
a "User environment" box which says:
"Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a
temporary profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient
security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists contact
your administrator."
Once this happens the only way I can log on properly with my profile is by
restarting the machine.
I clearly have sufficient security rights, and the user profile is not
completely corrupt as it lets me log in without a problem if I log in without
delaying.
Does anyone know what is causing this and how I could log on with the proper
profile once the error has occurred?
This is a standalone machine. It is on a home local network but there is no
domain, so I am not using roaming profiles.
Grateful for advice.
