I'm finding my temporary internet folder empty each time I open it. I have
History set to 5 days. I think a young family member has done something so
I'm not able to see where they have been. Even when they have not been
online and I have, no history is collected. Can anyone help?

Have a look here:

Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Empty
Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed. Also note that TIF
and History can be manually cleared at any time.

Something to keep in mind: TIF is not an accurate indicator of where someone
has been on the internet.

If you're concerned about what a young person is doing on the internet, buy
parental filtering software.

Hello Josie
This may lead you to some info
Type each letter of the alphabet, one at a time in the search bar(it works
in google)and you should get a drop down of all searches for that letter.
I.E. enter letter 'P' and if someone has been naughty, porn might popup????
If you have the 'google tool bar' under the I.E. bar it will search in there
as well.
Hope I have explained enough - but I am sure if I havnt, someone will help.
If it aint too much of an embarassment, let us know if it worked ;-) and
what was found.

Do a Google search for index.dat. This file is buried in XP and keeps a
record of every web page the computer has ever been to - unless it has been
erased by special software. There are some free viewers you can download to
see what's in there.
