Just a question about Temporary files with ASW/Defender. Why does
the program create so many ~df----.tmp files ? All seem sized around
~32 KBs. On some systems I've deployed the program, after months
of use I find tremendous number of these workspace files in the system
Temp folder.

I believe that beta1 creates two such files for each run of the program. I
also expect this to be fixed in beta2, which should be available fairly
soon--certainly in the next 3 to 6 months.

Yes, Bill. One certainly would hope to see beta2 within the next 3
to 6 months.. if not sooner. :)

After I wrote that, Mike Nash announced that beta2 is targed for the first
half of 2006 : (

All versions of Windows have created .tmp files when a program causes an
error in execution. There is no doubt that MSASW creates two .tmp files as
you describe every time the program is loaded. It is the same if loaded
during boot or after boot.
It is problem with Beta 1. You have to keep claening out the .tmp files. I
support a number of computers and yesterady I cleaned out about 1000 .tmp
files on one system. We hope that Microsoft will offer a fix realtively soon.
