Hey!

a friend. I'm trying to decide if he lost power, etc. or if I've been
blacklisted. When I click on his name in this message, it says
"FORBIDDEN You don't have permission to access / on this server". I
know he's been having a lot of email trouble (lost service for about a
month, etc) and he lives in a higher elevation, if that has any effect
on his service. I was also wondering if it is coming from his end or
possibly from something that could be going wrong on mine! Any help
would be appreciated.

copied and pasted except for the friend's name.

I do think he has his own domain.
His normal email address is:

Sounds like your friend does not have his domain DNS set up properly.
Does anyone else have trouble emailing him?
I have no way of checking his domain DNS setup for correctness
without knowing the exact domain name.

my biggest concern is this....Would I get a temporary failure message,
instead of a permanent failure message, if he decided he didn't want
to get emails from me anymore? when I looked up some information on
the web, it made it sound like a temp message happened more often,
when someone was having trouble with their connection (i.e. power
outage, etc.) and I do know that he did have some trouble recently.
He's pretty 'computer savvy, but he works out of town a lot, so I'm
not sure that he has that much time to work on his email account when
something does go wrong. I guess I'm feeling a little paranoid! ha!

If this guy is really savvy he might be able to fake a temporary failure
message, but it sounds like a lot of trouble to go to.
If you have any suspicion that the recipient is singling you out for
a failure message, you could test that theory by emailing him from
another account, such as a new Hotmail account.
A temporary failure typically happens when the recipient's mail server
is online but not working properly.

If his intent was to bounce your emails, I'm pretty sure he would have
made it look like a permanent failure. Rigging a temporary failure is
more difficult, and would not be advantageous in any way.
