Is there a graceful way to quit temporarily or exit wherein the user can
return to the place they left?

Use the B (black) or the W (white) keys to make the screen go blank (either
black or white) while in your presentation.

To return to the presentation you can press the B or W again to return...
"gracefully". :)

Also, ESC will get you right out immediately!!

If this is for a tutorial that you are creating in PowerPoint, the best thing
would be to organize it in chapters or sections and create a menu on your first
slide that allows selecting a section to return to. People frequently only
spend a segment of time in a tutorial and want to quit, go to a meeting, quit
for the day, etc. A menu allows them to jump to the section they want.

I believe he means that he wants to create an interactive presentation
that allows the user to quit out of PowerPoint in the middle and return
to the same spot (if this is the same person who sent me email). This is
certainly possible with VBA, but I don't think it is possible without it.
