I have created 3 new tabs under
the "FILE", "NEW", "TEMPLATE" section that are specific
to my business. What I'm finding, however, is that the
only way I seem to be able to save any changes if I edit
them is to save them in a separate location and then
continue to copy them over to the template directory.

Is there a way around this? It seems so unnecessary to
save them in 2 locations.

Which version of Word?

What are you trying to do to save changes that isn't working? Clicking on
the Save icon (disk)? Using Save As?

When you edit these, are you using File => New to access them? If so, you
are editing documents based on the templates rather than the templates. Word
marks the templates as "in use" when a document based on the template is
open and will not let you save a different file (the document) to the same
name/location.

To open a template for editing you have to open the template. Go to the
template folder and right-click on the icon for the template. Select Open.

If these are workgroup templates, they you can't edit them if anyone else is
using a document based on the template.

Are you opening the templates directly for editing (through File | Open), or
are you creating new documents/templates based on the templates?

Of course! This worked perfectly. Thank you.

Thank you, too, for sharing the link to MVP FAQ. I can
see that will be a very useful resource!
