Is there I can set XP to automatically delete Temporary Internet Files from
time to time. They keep accumulating and if I forget to manually go in and
delete them periodically, they slow down my system.

If you open IE and choose Tools...Internet Options, you will see a section
on Temporary Internet Files. From here you can delete the files as well as
set up how much space you wish to devote to storing them.

Under the Advanced tab of Internet Options, in the Security section, there
is a choice to "Empty Temporary Internet File Folder when browser is closed"
which will keep the folder empty always.

I can't imagine that this would have anything to do with the speed of your
system unless you have the folder size set to some ridiculously large value
that approaches the size of your hard drive free space.

Go to run,type:%Temp
In the new window, edit, select all, delete all. These are all installation files tha
get used upon installing software, updates, etc, used only for that one time, and ca
all be deleted, once in awhile 1or2 might need to stay,xp will/would let you know befor
it gets to recycle bin.
