Temp internet files self deleting

Hi group,

I usually browse and do my downloads in the evening as I am on a 56k dial up
which runs at about 3 to 4.5 Kb/s on a good day with a following wind, so to
maximise on time I usually go through my pages off line during the day using
the history function.

To help this I have moved my temp internet folder to another drive with
plenty of space and set the file to about 500mb, this way I can review pages
over the last week with ease.

This has worked fine up until this last week, today I went back to review
some of the last weeks pages only to find them greyed out in the history
column. I checked in the temp internet folder to find only pages and images
of last night.

Can anyone advise me what is happening? Have I inadvertently changed a
setting somewhere? It was working fine the last six months.

I think you have been very lucky if this has been working for you.
What you are describing is the way offline browsing used to work
in IE4 before sites got in the habit of marking their content non-cacheable
or pre-expired and before IE was made to respect such specifications.

However, your specific symptom, seeing only newly cached files,
suggests that your TIF was cleared. Be aware that that can occur
accidently if your machine is shut down abnormally (e.g. by a power
failure.)
