I want to build myself a new PC even though I really shouldn't and there
is nothing wrong with the one I have.

So tell me I shouldn't.

P.S Hello. Yes I'm bored.

Considering that I've built about 8 spare machines within the last year
I'd definately advise you *not* to build only one more...
you should really have at least 6 spares I'd think.

By the time you are done, they'll be obsolete
so then you will have to build another!

Sheesh. I really came to the wrong place. I should have gone to

Is it your only computer? If so, build a new one. I'm all for having a
backup system in case. If not, then...

You shouldn't...

Besides, next year, they'll finally have 64 bit Windows going, Intel should
have a 64 bit offering, BTX standard should be in full swing (don't know
why this is so necesary), PCI Express, DDR-II, etc., etc., etc....

Well you know you could do as the other respondent mentioned and just wait
a little bit then go with a 64bit system

That's probably what I'll do :)

- Spares!? - What are you talking about? ;-)
Are you one of those who tolerate 'dual boot' ?
....Or figure it's acceptable to move to a different room, just because
you want to use a computer?

;-)

P.S. ...hmm... "spares"?...- maybe...
(checks Newegg prices...)

There is one way and one way only to get someone to postpone (never avoid)
building a new system, and that is to tell them that there is some exciting
new technology coming out in a month or two. Well, there *is* <shrug> As
long as you have that carrot, you can wait (as long as you can read about it
and see pictures of it.)

true.....there's always that new tech just on the horizon. been using that stall technique since my P4B533, but then there's the
P4B266 (spare?) and the old P3V4x(spare x2?). Sounds like a bowling post.

But there's ALWAYS something exciting in the pipeline that will be along soon.
If I waited until there was nothing coming, I'd never get to build another
computer!

That reminds me: it's been nearly a year since I built myself a new system. I
can definitely feel an "itch" starting that I'll be forced to scratch before too
long. ;-)

Dude,
This is like going into a bar and asking a bunch of drunks to tell you not to
have a drink.
