have just set up broadband,totally clueless!!! I am getting static on phone line and no dial tone, what to do? no doubt there will be an easy solution to this plz help
 
I'm assuming it's DSL. They sell DSL filters (never used them) I think for
this situation. Saw them at Office Depot. I would still call the DSL
provider as this is not suppose to happen. They may have spiced into the
wrong pair of wires.
 
Dsl , Cable or Satellite? Your ISP are the best to ask for setting up your
service. The XP New Connection Wizard work better than the ISP software ,
which is loaded with there browser advertisements. Jym

If it is a DSL connection , you well need filters for your phones to keep
out the DSL interference. Jym

Your DSL provider should have included a couple DSL filters in your DSL
package. Install them and see if that helps.
