Trying to change my W2k AD schema in anticipation of going
to Windows 2003, these changes are need if you have
already got a exchange 2000 server. I ran the ldifde
command and received 3 entry modified sucessfully comments
in the log. Yet when i go to verify that the schema has
actually been changed by searching using ldp.exe the
schema seems to remain unchanged.

I have double checked to make sure I was on the operations
master and that the schema can be modified on this server.
I rebooted the server and tried again to verify. The
ldifde command clearly completes sucessfully yet for
example the msExchLabeledURI Ldapdisplayname remains at
the previous Exchange 2000 version of ms-Exch-LabeledURI.

Any Ideas?

Hi Craig
Please install the support tools from the 2003 CD and use the version of
the inetorgpersonfix.ldf that comes with server 2003.

If you open the file and look at it. It actually changes 6 ldap display
names. The objects in the schema do not change just the ldapdisplayname.

This fix may or may not run prior to running adprep. If you have the six
objects it will run and correct them. If you do not then it will fail to
run and you can run the fix after you run adprep /forestprep. Forestprep
will add these entries if they are not there.

Please use the inetorgpersonfix.ldf as a guide to see if the obects are
correct. You can open adsiedit.msc and search the schema container for the
six objects. Make sure that the ldapdisplayname matches what is listed
below. If it is mangled you eill see where the ldapdisplayname has DUP at
the beginning. if they all match you do not need to run the fix. If they
do not then you should re-run the fix.

cn=secretary
lDAPDisplayName: secretary

CN=labeledURI
lDAPDisplayName: labeledURI

CN=houseIdentifier
lDAPDisplayName: houseIdentifier

CN=ms-Exch-Assistant-Name
lDAPDisplayName: msExchAssistantName

CN=ms-Exch-LabeledURI
lDAPDisplayName: msExchLabeledURI

CN=ms-Exch-House-Identifier
lDAPDisplayName: msExchHouseIdentifier
