I have xp pro on my laptop.
I contact teac and they said reinstall os and or use cd's from factory.
well turns out I don't have my burner software, but I can't even get it
to read a cd.

I have reinstalled xp pro. sometimes it doesn't even give an error
message. it just opens up the cd drive to a blank screen.

I've done the driver uninstall and all. still no go.

any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom

a reply to myself... I have an external cd-rw also. I unplugged it,
and the first cd I put in internally worked. ????? now it doesn't.

solved. disconect the external cd-rw and uninstall then install the
driver for the cd.

yeah!

ok... I had a four port usb port with wireless, printer, external cd-rw,
external hard drive.

I cut down to the original two. uninstalled the others, went into safe
mode, uninstalled the internal cd-rw. clicked add hardware, let it
search.

it worked on reboot.
