TCPIP protocol not working

I have a simple network running manual ip addressing. When
I try to install an XP or NT machine, the TCPIP will not
work. I can browse machines in network neighborhood, but
not browse the internet. I have lots of XP machines
browsing, but cannot install any new ones.

All gateway, DNS, proxy settings are correct.

I have tried resetting the stack with netsh interface ip
reset [logfile] command but no effect. I have re-installed
the sytem on one but no luck. I am at a complete loss.
Please help if you have heard of this trouble!
Thanks
Ed

Is it possible you have not defined a default gateway in your static
settings?

I had the same problem..
I have set up the default gateway as well as DNS primary
and seconary ip from my ADSL providers
However, onething I realise is that when I did
a "ipconfig /all" it gives me a result with the last line
is "Netbios over TCPIP: Disable".. I don't have this on my
second PC with XP. I have tried every thing to enable the
netbios over TCPIP.. is that anything I am missing?

Can you ping the gateway address from the xp system that can't access the
internet?

Paul

NetBIOS isn't required for web access so try to get that working first. Are
you able to resolve names?
