Posted on a DSL usenet NG ... but no help. Thought I'd try here since
I've received so much helpful guidance before.

www.dslreports.com tweak test reports that my TCP Receive Window
should be somewhere between 5760 and 7200. Yet www.speedguide.net
recommends a considerably highter setting. The XP default is
somewhere in the 64800. Since I'm new to dsl, looking for any
guidance on this matter. My throughput is about 1.2 meg/bits. OS is
WinXP. Thanks in advance.

XP comes w/ good default values for all kinds of connection types.
Tweaking these TCP settings was all the rage under W98, since it didn't
have good defaults. XP does, you really shouldn't need to tweak anything,
tho there are hundreds of sites that tell you you should.

Having said that, do a google for CableNut, a comprehensive, free tweaking
tool, with lots of good config files for LOTS of different connection
types. As always, BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL SETTINGS before making any tweaks.

But remember, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
