Hi
In response to the various articles by Microsoft about preventing problems
due to the Blaster worm, such as in this article
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/
virus/alerts/msblaster.asp which describes how to "Configure TCP/IP security
on Windows 2000" by selecting "permit only" for all traffic. However, I
followed the steps here and then was not able to access the internet through
our network at all (no Outlook, Internet Explorer or Messenger).
What am I missing?
I have Win2K pro btw.
Thanks
Matt

No Outlook, No Internet Explorer and no Messenger... What are you
missing? Not much I would say. On a more serious note, did you create
a rule to allow the network IP address through? If you create no rules
you will allow nothing in... or out. In my opinion instead of fiddling
around with these setting and configurations it's easier and safer
(stronger security) to use a firewall.

John
