I need to know how to determine the static tcp/ip address
of a given printer installed on a system. I've done it
before, but unfortunately forgot how. Can someone please
help me?

Thanks

This depends on what and how the printer is atttached
to/by.

If on a printer cable to a computer that has it shared
then you need to use \\computer-name\printer-sharename
where the IP address of the computer can be use instead
of the computer-name. 2 ways to Check, in the networking
on the properties of the TCP-IP protocol loaded. Fastest
way is to go to the command prompt and type
ipconfig....hint: don't do it at the RUN option..the
screen will flash to quickly to be read. RUN COMMAND
then type ipconfig an press enter.

If your printer is attached using either a built-in
printserver (like Lexmark Optra-XXn printers then look on
the front of the printer and go through the menu to find
the IP address. For a print server box you have to find
the documentation on how to determine the current IP
address...worst case you will find a way to reset the box
to the factory defaults. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Wayne, but neither scenario is the case. The
printer is attached directly to the network hub, and has
no control panel of its own to query.

Any other ideas, anybody?
