Hi all
Got a slight problem here.Running XP PRO.
I was looking around my internet connection and clicked on the advance tab
under my XP internet firewall, clicked on settings and low and behold!!!!!
I have 351 TCP and UDP Ports enabled there.I looked at that last week and
had 47 so i just deleted them all but 3 just in case windows might need a
couple.
Don't have no idea what they are fore, i know i used to install 14 for the
mwssenger to be able to transfer photos and stuff , but i haven't done that
in a while.
Can anyone help me out here.
Thanks

Hi all
By the way the ports that are being created are msmsgs TCP and UDP.
Thanks again

Don't know what to do about it.
Guess i will start over , rebuild hard drive and install one program at a

Hi again, I have 2 fire walls installed now. When XP firewall didn't stop
that i thought something was getting in so i turned on my PC-cillon firewall
to.
Still lost , After my last letter to you they all disapeard except 7 of them
so i deleted those and created 10 new windows messenger ones hopeing that
might help but my list is growing again, about 50 there now ,i might just
have to shoot this thing , it may get to big to handle, HA HA.
Hopeing for advice yet.

Carl;

It is not a good idea to have more than one
firewall running. Use one or the other.

To see what's happening
Start | Run | Type: cmd | OK |
Type: netstat -an | ENTER

Hi Wes
You aren't going to believe this , I don't.
I called myISP tech support and asked them about this problem, and they told
me that this was normal , there are 65,000 port available and one computer
can get as many as up to 2,000 at one time , depending on what you are doing
on the net.
That is the way i understood it.
Maybe you can verify this for me.
Thanks again
