I am running Exchange Server 2000 on a Windows 2000
Advanced Server Machine which is a domain controller as
well as a Symantec Antivirus Corporate Server. It is not
directly connected to the internet rather it is behind an
ISA Server which is running on a Windows 2003 stand alone
server. I have noticed the task manager is showing some
entries that are not running a few days ago which are:

1.winlogon.exe
2.PDS.exe
3.ismserv.exe
4.NscTop.exe
5.regsvc.exe
6.locator.exe
7.mstask.exe
8.winmgmt.exe
9.wins.exe
10.mssearch.exe

My ISA Server log shows that some entries like winmgmt.exe
is trying to access internet. And some of my clients are
complaining that their e-mails are staying in the server.

I knows this is not the proper newsgroup to discuss
problem related to Exchange or Isa server but i want to
know that why my task manager contains these entries.

Thankx!

These are normal processes for standard OS and a/v apps.
Use this link if you have questions in the future about running
processes...I hope you didn't kill any of them and some will be trying to
get to the internet. like the NSCtop.exe

1.winlogon.exe - nt/2000 logon process
2.PDS.exe - Intel Ping Discovery service (remote admin and monitoring)
3.ismserv.exe - InterService Messaging system service
4.NscTop.exe - Symantec System Center Discovery Service
5.regsvc.exe - windows remote registry access
6.locator.exe - Microsoft RPC locator
7.mstask.exe - taskmanager
8.winmgmt.exe - windows management for script access
9.wins.exe - windows naming service server
10.mssearch.exe - ie search facility
