On the View menu select "TaskPad" to remove the item while in a Calendar
folder.

That button will only allow me to change the content of the taskpad not
delete it. (Unless I am missing something.)

You are missing something. Outlook 2003 does not display the Taskpad by
default. To get it to show, you must select Taskpad from the View menu. To
stop the display, uncheck the Taskpad selection.

That there would be the problem.
I seem to have only Outlook 2002.
I will get that addressed, then try again.
Thanks.

Try dragging the left side of the Taskpad to the right until it reaches the
right-hand border.

Thanks, Brian.
That was actually the first action that I tried but I think that the month
calendars above the taskpad keep the left edge locked in that position.

Not for me. When I drag the border to the right, the taskpas closes and the
Date Navigator moves from the right side to the left.
