Taskmon Error

I use Windows XP professional and for a couple of days now I receive an
error 384 when Windows starts up. I checked the and discovered that the
program taskmon is causing this problem. I disabled it with MSCONFIG during
the start up and the error is gone. What does taskmon do and does need to be
started? Does disabling it make XP unstable?

Any information is appreciated.

Here's an MS Knowledge Base article about Taskmon. Note that the url
wraps in my newsreader and you will need to enter it into your
browser's addressbar on one line. Or go to Google and enter the search
term, "taskmon".

taskmon.exe is part of Windows 98 & Windows ME.

If you have either taskmon.exe or shimgapi.dll on your machine,
they do not belong on an XP machine, I would suspect................
