Alan Gavel

I have the problem with identification of User name for specified
process in Task manager in Windows XPpro. All listed processes are
without these names. Is it a sign of virus or is the computer hacked? I
have antivirus and firewall enabled (NOD32+Kerio), however, my computer
is turned on and conneted up to days time to time. Windows are kept updated.

Thanks for any ideas!

P.S.: My browser (Firefox) have begun to start very slowly.

You need to have Terminal Services enabled and running in order to see any
names in the User Name column in Task Manager.

Start | Run | Type: services.msc | OK |
Scroll down to and double click: Terminal Services |
Set Startup type to Automatic | Apply | Click the Start button | OK

From Task Manager Help:

User Name
[[The name of the user whose Terminal Services session owns the process. The
counter is available only when Terminal Services is installed.

Monitoring Sessions
The Users tab displays users who can access this computer, and session
status and names. Client Name specifies the name of the client computer
using the session, if applicable. Session provides a name for you to use to
perform such tasks as sending another user a message or connecting to
another user’s session.

The Users tab is displayed only if the computer you are working on has Fast
User Switching enabled, and is a member of a workgroup or is a standalone
computer. The Users tab is unavailable on computers that are members of a
network domain.

To view user activity
Click the Users tab.
Notes
The Users tab is displayed if you have enabled Fast User Switching.

Thanks for "double" help Wesley. I'm happy not to have to solve the
unwanted intrusion.
This help is what I like at this news when I compare it with news in my
language.

You're right. In "my" news no answer within 2 days.

The biggest problem was to find the adress to this newsgroup because my
"help and expert help" (how could it be called in english) doesn't work.
It simply didn't start up and the pasted adress to these news haven't
worked for some reason in my browser.

Where did the help come from?
