Taskmanager shows running programs and processes. Items are listed here
because you or a running program/service have requested them to run. You
can find a list of services and their description in the Services console
manager (Start> Run> %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s or click on
Administrative Tools> Services in the Start Menu or Control Panel.) Do not
disable any of services unless you completely understand what functions
they serve.

If you want to work on trimming down the programs allowed to run at
startup, move over to a different tool: System Configuration tool (Start>
Run> MSCONFIG). Review the programs on the startup tab. There is nothing on
this list that Windows has to have running to operate. There may be a few
items for antivirus or that support hardware devices that you should keep
but consider all others as optional. Open the main program that an item
belongs to. Check the program's help file if you're unsure what its doing
at startup. Use its menus to adjust the startup configuration.
