Taskman Keeps Closing and So does msconfig

I have been haiving some strange activity, though i have seen that some others have the same problems all there solutions seem to lead to the same thing, Format and reinstall, here is the activit

When i try Control Alt Delete to get Taskman up, Taskman opens and then closes very fast
When I try to run msconfig i get nothing, or sometimes it opens for a short flash

In safe mode it works fine but is not able to do much compared to normal mode

I think it is some kind of virus, when i tried playing Everquest they told me i had to open a bunch of ports which i finally in desparation did, and well shortly after that i had this activity, I no longer have the ports open (They never needed to be in the first place but we all know how coockie cutter tech support can be, when there is a real problem it is worthless

Any other ideas

Oh, I cant install windows without getting the BSD(Blue Screen of Death) so i have heald off on that option
Virus Scanners (PCCillin) doesnt find anything wrong either
