In the XP taskbar, can the order of appearance of the applications be
changed? I'd like to be able to reorder the rectangular boxes which display
the applications within the taskbar. Ideally I'd be able to drag and drop
them into whatever order suits me but I can't seem to figure out how. Is
there a way to do this?

I don't know the way to arrange the order of the Taskbar Buttons, or even if
there is one. Anybody knows?

When the taskbar has become too crowded, and the grouped buttons are of
little help -- they are piled up on top of one another in chronological
order in the shared button(s); they all look the same -- I just click the
individual button, i.e. by trial and error. The Alt-Tab key combination
switch operation is one solution; another is the Task Manager. Maybe I am
always in too much of a hurry, or just impatient.

Bee.

Taskbar Commander

Taskbar Commander is a quick utility for the eccentric
Windows user - it allows you to reorder the buttons on
your taskbar and arrange them as you like.

Usage is pretty simple. Upon startup, TC will alphabetize
your taskbar buttons. You can then use the pretty
straightforward controls to move the buttons around.

right mouse click on the task bar and choose properties.
Unlock the taskbar (first tick box) drag and drop till
your hearts content then relock the taskbar. Faster way
is just to lock and unlock straight from menu but above
is easier to describe.

Unlocking taskbar still doesn't let me move the individual "app blocks"
around.

It is not possible to do this with the taskbar (at least without third-party
utilities).
