If you meant the Quick Launch bar, unlock it first.

Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! Quick Launch

Or....

This behavior can occur if the Quick Launch folder has been deleted. To
resolve this issue, recreate the Quick Launch folder. Create a folder named
Quick Launch at the following location:

Windows Explorer\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Hi, I am having trouble posting here so hope I can have my question answered through this thread. I am having problems with the Taskbar also. Windows XP starts (slowly) but stops responding before the taskbar (start menue etc) appears. Can someone help me with this? Thanx

Sounds like something loading on startup.
Boot into safe mode, run msconfig, and look in startup for newly
installed entries and disable.

Hi Skullywag
Thank you for your help....I went to Safe Mode, then it went to "Operatiing systems to start" which showed Microsoft Windows XP Home edition and I was told to hit enter...this got me to the screen which said Windows is starting up" which it froze at...This has been so frustrating.
Do I entered just Safe Mode or Safe mode w/networking or Safe Mode w/command prompt? Also how do I run Msconfig
Would it be better to try and do a system restore? Thank you again!

You'll want plain old "Safe Mode".
To run msconfig, go to your start menu, "Run", type in "msconfig", hit
"OK".

IF you can't get into Windows (safe mode or not), you won't be able to
do a system restore. You will need to do a "Repair Install" of XP.
