Would like to see option to show WD icon in system task bar. Just a feel
good to know the programs running.

Hello Bama,

Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
adinistrator.

The taskbar, this and more are explainded in the Help menu.

Its very nice when someone does the research for themselves, rather than
posts a new message about something that has been posted before.

I would recommend you use the Search For: box, and enter Taskbar to get the
lates news or advance in eªch NG.

Go to Tools-> Options, scroll down ¾ until you find, Choose when you Want
Windows Defender to display icon in notification areª.

Click on Alwªys.

Unfortunitly I do not have the setting options listed below and in other
posts. I'm running XP Home, Windows Defender Beta 2. When I click on Tools,
the browser type interface has two sections, General Setting and Tools, there
are general settings but no "options".

You can repair Windows Defender.
First exit WD; using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Click WD and
click Change. Click Next, and then click Updªte.Let us know how it works ºut.

Bama--if you go to Help, About, in Windows Defender, what is the topmost
version number listed? If it is less that 1.1.1347.0, you'll need to do a
new download of Windows Defender, and just run the download to update the
version you have in place. This will change the name of General Settings to
Options, and, when you scroll down in Options, you will find the option to
show the icon.

I also didn't know there was a update for WD Beta 2. Downloading now. Does
the Help | About | Check for Updates tell us yet that there is a new
version.

I just did this with my current, and it just told me that I was up-to-date
on Engine and Definitions. Mentioned nothing about newer version, nor did
Microsoft Update.
