Ok this may be posted twice, I think OE is bein screwy today but here goes
again......

For some reason all of a sudden if i right click on my taskbar, the option
to lock it is checked and greyed out. So my taskbar is "perma-locked". The
only thing I've done out of the ordinary is switch from the XP style start
menu to the classic, set it up to my liking and then switched back to XP
style. Any ideas how to regain control of my taskbar lock? I am running XP
Pro by the way.
TIA

.
Try this:-

Open your registry and find or create the key below.
Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value,
called "LockTaskbar" and set it according to the value data
below.

Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of
Windows for the change to take effect.

Registry Settings
User Key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]
System Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Explorer]
Value Name: LockTaskbar
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = Unlocked, 1 = Locked)
