Hope someone can help me.
The task bar at the bottom of my screen has suddenly doubled in depth,
making the viewing area too small for a lot of web pages.
I have not added anything new to the task bar, so I can't understand why it
would suddenly grow.
Is there a way I can reduce it? I have tried the double ended arrow, but it
does nothing at all.
I am using Windows XP home edition.
Thanks

Right-click, uncheck "lock the taskbar", and you should then be able
to resize it.

Hi Stan
Thanks for the suggestion, I've just tried unlocking the toolbar and
unfortunately it didn't work.
If you have any other ideas please let me know, I will try anything!

After unlocking it, drag the bar downwards
You should see the double arrow in a vertical postioon, sort of like this:

Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear. What I meant was,
I unlocked the taskbar, got the double ended arrow, clicked and slid the
mouse up and down but the task bar will not expand or decrease. I even tried
locking and unlocking the task bar several times.
At the moment I only have 5 shortcut icons and 2 icons for the current open
windows, in the centre third of the task bar. Unfortunately the 2 open
windows icons are underneath the 5 shortcuts. If I could only get them all on
the same line, like they always used to be, it would help tremendously.
If I could e-mail you, then I could send you a screen dump, and you could
see my problem.
I apologise if I appear a little naive, but this is so frustrating, I am
convinced that there must be a simple solution.
Thanks
Joy
