my quick launch and notification area icons have suddenly got larger, i have
XP and have not changed any settings recently, can u tell me how to correct
it or refer me to the correct newsgroup??

Alex,

Try this advice, previously posted by Ronnie Vernon.

Right-click Desktop, choose Properties. Select the Appearance tab. In the
Advanced dialog, the Caption Buttons selection in the Items drop down
menu control the size of the Notification Area (System Tray) icons. The
default value is "22".

If not, try a System Restore rollback.

i have tried the things you said and i have still not noticed that the icons
have gone back to normal size, is there something else i can do. is there a
type of software that could interfere with the system tray.

thanks
alex

Try this...

Right click the Taskbar | Select Lock the taskbar to unlock it | Left click
an empty area of the Quick Launch area and select View | Small Icons

View will not appear in the menu if the Taskbar is locked.

Alex,

One of these might help.

1. Inspect the settings under Accessibility Options (Display)
2. Set the theme back to Windows XP (If it reads as Windows XP (Modified). ]
3. Compare the registry settings with a new user profile
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics)
4. Try a System Restore rollback

Thanks alot it worked
