Hi group,

I have been experiencing a bug recently, and after some
research today, found it was (or similar to) KB810706 - I
resize my taskbar (specifically, make it double size), and
lock it - but when i reboot, it forgets my changes. It
used to work, but i tweaked my desktop a little while
back, which seemed to coincide with the symptoms. The
major tweak was changing the caption button size, but a
few other small changes from the same place were done too.

The article on this
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;810706) says it has been fixed in SP1, however i have
SP1, and am still experiencing the bug...

Has anyone else experienced this? I haven't found any
similar bugs on the MS site, or the internet in general...

Thanks,

Gareth

1. Create a new user account and logon.
2. Set the display settings to however you want them, includin
resizing the taskbar.
3. Run the File and Settings Transfer Wizar
(Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>File and Settings Transfe
Wizard)
4. Call this the “Old Computer”.
5. For Select Transfer Method, choose “Other” and save to any folde
you want. Remember this folder. (I saved to “Shared Documents”)
6. For “What do you want to transfer?”, select “Settings Only”, an
“Let me select a custom list of files and settings when I click Next.”
7. At the next screen, remove everything but “Display properties”. Th
wizard saves the settings.
8. Login to the user account that is having the problem. Run th
wizard.
9. Call this the “New Computer”.
10. Select “I don’t need the Wizard disk…”
11. Select Other and browse to the folder that you saved the setting
to.
12. When the wizard finishes, logout and logon. Try resizing th
taskbar and logout and logon again to see if the settings ar
retained.

Hope this works for you like it did for me.
