taskbar not responding

I am having a problem with the taskbar. I have slow or no response when clicking on start. I have no problem using my icons, but when a program is closed it remains on the taskbar and cannot be manually removed or reopened. Right clicking does nothing in the taskbar. I have downloaded sp1a which did not help this problem.

I am also suffering from this problem, intermittantly. There is simply no
response from the taskbar.

The problem started at the same time as booting started taking a very long time:
the welcome screen stays on the screen for a minute instead of the 1/2 second it
used to.

I had a local IT tell me to take Window XP CD and boot with it. Several screens into setup a repair option would display. He said this mighty repair the problem without changing any settings or applications. Next problem is I don't have the CD.

I how have my problem with the taskbar repaired. If you are still having this problem go to <a href="http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm!"> taskbarplus </a>, scroll down under Taskbar and click on Taskbar is missing. Click open and the repair is done. Although I could see the taskbar before,it was not responding. Now I am back to norm! I hope this works for you, too
